…according to the article of the same name, featured in the May 2008 issue of Flexible Packaging. The article talks about “a changing consumer goods marketplace stimulating packagers to take a new look at digital printing.
Bob’s contribution to Nutritional Outlook.
The trade magazine’s John Conroy talked with Bob in the September 2007 issue in the article called, “Package Deal – Savvy labeling and container design can ensure a buy at first sight,”. In it, Bob highlighted a few design mistakes to avoid, including misusing fin-seals and reducing images (and fonts) down too small.
Speedy label revamp case study featured in Packaging World.
The July 2007 issue featured Judy Rice’s news bit on CL&D Digital’s role in revamping Sageant’s vitamin bottles, which included shrink sleeve label printing, as part of the company’s effort to rebrand and refresh its product image.
Bob’s contribution on prototyping.
Cosmetic/Personal Care Packaging Senior Editor Marie Redding tapped Bob for her January/February 2007 article on The Fast-Paced World of Prototype Printing. In it, Bob comments that “Digital printing works at approximately 10 times the speed of a conventional press.”

2006: What a beauty! CL&D in September’s GCI magazine.
September’s issue of Global Cosmetic Industry features the article Better (and Cheaper) in the Short Run by Bob Scherer. The article focuses on the flexibility and cost efficiency of digital printing packaging for cosmetic prototypes. The case study presented is Suzanne Somers’ Spray On Makeup Professional Foundation, courtesy of her skin care company SLC Skin Care, Inc. The product was the company’s first cosmetic launch!

Bob also authored the Bonus Feature in February’s Flexible Packaging magazine. The article entitled Smart Move: Send Short Runs to Digital Specialists discusses the very specific, yet important niche digital printers have carved out as short-run, high-quality, quick-delivery specialists.
2005: Bob shares his insights on digital package printing and digital workflow software in “Packaging’s New Look: Fast and First to Market,” featured in the November issue of Global Cosmetic Industry magazine.
The November issue of Packaging World also includes a contribution from Bob, too. In the “Special Report: Prepress progress through new and old technologies” (pages 40-44), Bob comments on what CPGs (consumer goods companies) want – and how collaboration and “knowledge-sharing” among all parties improves the process, and ultimately the finished product.
September’s Dairy Field? “Packaging Technology: Rounding the next bend” included Bob’s comments on how high-quality graphics attract buyers.
Earlier in 2005, Bob contributed to the cover story on tailoring packaging and sidebar tips on exploring digital custom packaging in Brand Packaging magazine.
